Birth is a mystery. Words are not enough. —Marie O'Connor
Birth photography captures the amazing moments you may miss during your birth experience.
A birth photographer captures all those moments that may be missed or forgotten during labor and delivery. The first breaths and snuggles with your beautiful new baby. Birth photography is one of the most incredible gifts you can give yourself as well as your child. You will be able to look back at these priceless images and “remember” the day, or in some cases see what happened as it all went by so fast that the images run together.
Whether giving birth at home, at a hospital, or at a birthing center — a birth photographer allows your support team to focus on the needs of you and the new addition soon to enter the world. My goal is to provide you with a photo-journalistic story of the birth experience. I become part of your birth team, and work to unobtrusively capture all the wonders of this incredible journey. Read what prior birth photography clients have said.

How do we get started
We will meet prior to your third trimester to talk in detail about what your desires — what you would like to have capture as well as those moments you would like to remain private. We will discuss your birthing location and the other members of your birth team.
Can you take photos at my birthing center?
Yes. I’ve done numerous birthing photography sessions for birthing center clients. Simply let me know the name of your center – if I haven’t already photographed there, I will call and make any necessary arrangements. Just let them know you’ve hired my as part of your birth team.
Will you photograph home births?
Yes, but it is important for me as a birth photographer to visit you at your home and look over the lighting and room conditions. Even a large house can get crowded, so we will need to coordinate ahead of time concerning equipment placement and who may be joining you for the birth. I’ll with your midwife, doula, and other birth team members to let them know I’ll be photographing the birth.
I am delivering at the hospital. Do you do hospital birth photography?
Yes, and I have have been to most area hospitals and have worked with a lot of labor and delivery nurses. It is important to get clearance from your obstetrician and any on-call physician and labor and delivery staff present at the birth. Let your doctor know that you want your birthing experience photographed and that you’ve hired me. I am happy to work with any concerns or restrictions your doctor may have.
Do you share our images with others?
You have the opportunity to approve all images that are shared with others via our website or in your own slideshow. Although all clients are asked to sign a model release, you remain in control of what images are shared. These are your personal and private images, and will remain just that should you choose.

She captured some of the most tender moments that I never knew occurred because I was so focused on my labor. I cried when I first saw the photos, because I could see the love that both my husband and Mom were exuding while I was having labor pains and once Ava was born. — Nikki, mom to Ava (and now Stephen)
